Neurotic Pictures is an independent production company based in the South of England.
We provide a suite of production services which cater for; film, music, radio, business/corporate related, video/web advertising, 2d/3d graphics, and computer generated imagery. These services are complimented by a range of photographic/cinematographic equipment, lighting, sound, design equipment, and requisite software(s). We operate out of an industrial unit in Berkshire with studio space, computer lab, and workshop.
This space allows us the capacity to produce a variety of projects simultaneously be they artistic or commercial e.g:
Advertising, video installations, documentary pieces, interviews, product/service vignettes, web animations, short film, music video, feature film, artistic case studies,
pre-production & prototyping, post-production, e.t.c.
Why "Neurotic" Pictures? - It's a name; as good as any in a fragmented culture.
The studio floor is committed for part of each year to the design and development of visual storytelling styles.
This we consider very important as it is what we see that frames what we hear and vice versa.
For example; in story-writing one uses language to put forward a complex idea in terms easy to conceptualize;
lighting, images, and camera movement can also be arranged to express ideas in visual terms which can be universally understood.
A visual language, i.e. the shot and position (framing), lighting, arrangement of props and set (staging), etc - can be designed
or redesigned to complement dialogue and actions to present a concept fluently within a scene.
The agreement or dissonance between the visual story and the written story is where one finds implications and forms meaning from them.
Without this coherence we are left with lights flickering senselessly in a box.
On a good day our studio environment provides for both artistic freedom to experiment with styles and archetypes as well as
the framework to produce media to order.
Still and animated photography and photogrammetry
catering for a variety of art-styles and effects. These can be used to showcase items and services: Small or big; known or unknown,
functional or beautiful - or both.

We also operate as a hub for Christopher Gale's Storm Studio Photography
and Richard Pendragon Media.
Please click the links for their galleries also.
We have everything in-house to take most projects from conception to
completion.
We have a director, cinematographer, and photographers in-house each with their own techniques suited to a wide array of projects from Music Videos to Feature Film to Advertising small and large.
If you were looking to replicate an existing style of work or recreate a scene for pick-ups we can cater for many different
cinematic/media looks, moods, or types for example:
- "The Look" coined by Luc Besson or any look of any particular style of film, or generic tropes/well established expected film looks;
- Broadcast TV style, documentary stlye, fly-on-the-wall, interviews;
- Product centric advertising and/or advertising for services,
- Niche styles: 16-35mm film, social media segments, aerial photography, "found"/stock/background footage,
All are easy possibilities.
There are some examples and extracts from recent work available in the gallery.
We have adequate software and facilities for audio recording and mastering along with arranging videography for music videos. We also hold a small supply equipment to create soundscapes, generate original sound effects, and lay down basic background music.
The most cost effective method for advertising in the digital age is considered to be short format clips and digital posters published on social media and/or between streaming content. Quick, punchy, and factual often has greater success in finding an audience over the elaborate narratives and production of traditional TV commercials. We can help create ads from the ground up to suit a product/service or work within the visual design of an existing campaign.
Be it health&safety protocol in a steel foundry, managing legal compliance at a private bank, or the basics of how to operate a microwave, engaging and informative internal media can be delivered competently and inexpensively.
Part of any creative ethos is being able to redesign or rebuild things that aren't working.
On many occasions, off-the-peg hardware
is either not available or not suitable to do the job in hand.
Cranes, jibs, sliders, and other rigging may have to be built around the constraints
of existing sets, locations, and budgets. To this end, we have a workshop with the capacity to
build and rebuild equipment and cameras to specific needs.
Our moving rigs, dollies, and cranes are all built in welded steel as it
provides greater rigidity and stability than aluminium though at a cost in weight.
We have the facility to produce shorts, modest features, documentaries, high quality advertising & commercial media, etc.
- For projects of higher budget and scope, we have experience collaborating
with other production companies in various capacities.
-
The studio floor space provides decent room for up to three interior sets with good distance for long lenses.
-
We have our own supply of pro-lite trussing for the building of customized lighting, flying rigs and other load-bearing equipment.
We can operate as a second unit for interviews, documentary coverage, cutaways, or whole scenes here in the UK for international productions in scenarios where it would be prohibitively expensive or difficult to send the first unit; i.e. BREXIT.
We can, within reason, create specific scenes and/or vignettes to order. Examples would be; A missing pickup, linking segment/transition(physical or in software,) practical effect (on green-screen), substitution, or a sequence/clip not available in stock archives.
Need help with a ... script, soundscape, effect, background art, reworking, rewriting, tweaking a performance, anything? It costs nothing to ask; we might be able to help or know someone else who can.
